Hi – my name is Gill and I live with my partner Steve just outside Peterborough, UK. I am the European Business Manager for an MRP Software System and my job involves a lot of travelling and overnight stays where I am tempted to eat too much through boredom.
During my spare time I like to make things – I find the creative process a great stress release. Unfortunately I tend to buy with all good intentions and would have to live to 110 to make all the things I have planned in my head.
My mother taught me to knit when I was around 10 years old and I have flirted with all things creative ever since. When my 3 boys arrived in the late 80’s I didn’t have time for my hobby but since they have all flown the nest I have taken up sewing and knitting again with a vengeance.
I make because I enjoy the process – if at the end of it I have something I can wear or use that is a bonus. After all if I wanted a dress or a cardigan I could just go out and buy them. Unlike when I was younger we have choice and clothing is affordable. Still there is that show-off part of me that loves to say “I made this”.
